Photofacial Rejuvenation

  • Introduction

Introduction

Photofacial rejuvenation is a state-of-the-art skin treatment that is used to erase damage on the skin’s surface creating a younger and healthier looking skin.  It is effective in treating a variety of skin imperfections including fine wrinkles, freckles, age spots, noncancerous lesions, and blemishes.  It can be used to treat unwanted spots on your face, hands, chest, and neck.  Photofacial rejuvenation uses the combination of a gel and a laser to deliver comfortable and effective treatment.  The advanced laser technology allows different types of skin conditions to be treated in the same session.

Treatment

Photofacial rejuvenation treatments are short in-office procedures—often lasting 20 minutes or less.  For your treatment, a gel will be applied to your skin.  You will be given protective eye goggles to wear.  A smooth light wand is applied to your skin.  The wand delivers rapid impulses of a bright light.  Photofacial rejuvenation treatments are usually pain free, but you may receive an anesthetic cream if you experience discomfort.

There is no downtime after a treatment.  You may return to your regular activities immediately.  You may experience some blotchiness that may last from a few hours to a few days.  No sunbathing within a few days prior to the procedure and following the procedure are recommended. Ask your physician if sun restrictions apply to your treatment. A typical treatment plan usually includes multiple sessions performed about three weeks apart.  Results at the end of a treatment plan are long lasting, usually a year or more.
